The NBA season has gotten off to quite the start, with many teams exceeding expectations, while others have faltered out of the gates. Here is the official Table Talk Top 5 at this point in the year.
1. Golden State Warriors (16-3): The Dubs are off to a hot start, with newest member Kevin Durant finding his form. Golden State is still the favorite to win the NBA championship, and slight tweaks on defense will make them nearly unbeatable.
2. San Antonio Spurs (15-4): The Spurs are not getting the same hype as the Warriors or Cavaliers, but their play on the court has been consistently top notch. LaMarcus Aldridge has settled in nicely during his second year in San Antonio, and he is putting up numbers (18ppg and 7rbs per game).
3. Los Angeles Clippers (15-5): They narrowly beat out the Cavs for the 3rd spot on this list. The Clips may have been #1 if not for a recent slip on a road trip. However, they dismantled the Cavaliers in Cleveland, and it seems like Chris Paul and Co. are locked in this season.
4. Cleveland Cavaliers (13-4): A #4 ranking should not scare the Cleveland faithful. Lebron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love has looked dominant thus far, now it’s simply a matter of when will the playoffs get here? The Cavs are virtually locks to win the Eastern Conference should they stay healthy. In April, when the playoffs loom, Cleveland will be in the top 2 on this list.
5. Houston Rockets (12-7): A surprise team this year, and they are fun to watch. The Rockets most recently ousted the Warriors in Oakland in a 132-127 double overtime thriller. While defense may not be their strong suit, Mike D’Antoni is certainly getting the most out of this team on the offensive end. New additions such as Eric Gordon and Ryan Andersen have been HUGE thus far.
