Jozy Altidore will be forever haunted by the outstretched arm of Stefan Frei, lunging to his left side, against his natural momentum, and saving what would have most likely been the game winning goal in the second period of extra time. The rest is history. Toronto and Seattle went to 6 rounds of penalty kicks, with Seattle coming out on top, 5-4. Did Seattle deserve to win MLS Cup? Probably not. Were they the best team on the field Saturday night? No. However, soccer is the one sport in which a team can get totally outplayed, but come away victorious.

Toronto FC sliced and diced the Seattle defense all night, but came up short in the final third. They outshot the Sounders 19-3, 7-0 on target. However, the Sounders defense held firm all night, with Stefan Frei making 7 huge saves, including the save of the year (here).

At the end of the day, Seattle found a way to get the job done, and they rode off into the postseason sunset with their first club championship.

Was Seattle the best team in MLS? Will they continue their dominance into next season?
